What a delightful walk today! We covered 13 miles, and even got to sleep in a bit. We chose an optional route (more authentic Camino, we were told) which had us following a river, which meant shade trees half the day.
After fueling up with cafe and tortilla, we returned to the more popular Camino, and the familiar landscape.
Things I brought for which I am surprisingly thankful: my clothesline, my jacket, extra socks, lip balm, a spoon, Whatsapp (so I can communicate daily with my family)
Why in the world did I bring: an inflatable pillow, my bandana, coffee packets (I can wait for our first a.m. stop now)
I wish I had packed: more toothpaste (ran out), face moisturizer, more Propel packets (don’t sell here and we need the electrolytes), “regular” bandaids.
As far as eating, I seem to be the most “adventuresome” of the three of us. Today for lunch I had Gazpacho (a cold tomato-based soup) and…this little guy, who not only seemed to be looking at me, but (Marsha and Mary can confirm) had a little fin that seemed to be waving at me.
After the little siesta that all good little Spaniards enjoy, we will go to Mass tonight at this beautiful church.
We stopped by earlier so I could light a candle for my big intention of the day: Happy Anniversary, my Bill! 33 glorious years!
